A Better A&E design solution is to improve the working environment for staff and reassure patients with fixed information that help aid the waiting process.

Since the implementation of A Better A&E scheme, the overall feedback from patients felt the design project help clarify A&E process, it reduced patient frustration during waiting times and threatening body language and aggressive behaviour fell by 50% post implementation.

A Better A&E was designed by Pearson Lloyd as part of the Design Council brief, how to improve the A&E department through design.

We were involved in overseeing technical surveys for each of the A&E departments involved in. This included creating elevations and application guidelines for each sign, artwork handling, managing the production and installation.

A&E departments we have been involved in;

Airedale General Hospital
Bristol Royal Infirmary
Croydon University Hospital
University Hospitals Leicester
Newham Hospital
The Royal London Hospital
University Hospital Southampton
St George’s Hospital
