The Glynn Vivian Art Gallery was founded in 1911 at the request of Richard Glynn Vivian. He originally donated his paintings, drawings and china. Glendinning Moxham designed the Grade II* listed building in the Edwardian Baroque style, and the Gallery belongs to the City and County of Swansea.

In 2016, the Glynn Vivian Art Gallery reopened after a complete restoration and improvements of the 1911 Grade II* listed building and a new stat-of-the-art extension, making the building fit for the 21st Century.

As part of the extension works and full refurbishment of Glynn Vivian Art Gallery, the museum went through a new rebrand by multi-award-winning Welsh brand agency Elfen. As part of the new wayfinding and design brief, we used the brand tool kit provided by Elfen and developed a new wayfinding and design strategy that not only incorporated the design, it also worked in dual Welsh and English language. The design was applied to the walls using an in-situ silk-screen printing technique, and the graphics were sealed using lacquer applied to the surface to create a solid painted box.

The external signage required local planning approval for Advertisement Consent and Listed building consent; an element included within the design brief.
